Pipe Based Continuous Slot Well Screens

Pipe based screens are widely used in water wells and oil field applications due to their strength and durability. The assembly process involves perforating a base pipe and then mounting a continuous slot screen over it using one of three methods:

1. Wrap-on Pipe: Trapezoid-shaped wire wound directly onto a pipe.
2. Pipe Base: Wire wound over longitudinal rods mounted around a pipe's circumference.
3. Screen Jacket: Separate continuous slot well screen jacket slipped over a pipe.

The pipe base method is preferred over the wrap-on pipe design as the rods hold the wire away from the pipe surface, resulting in fewer blocked base-pipe openings.
