Our drum screens provide features not commonly found in other micro and fine screens. They combine screening, washing, compacting, and dewatering into one unit, reducing equipment and operation costs.
The screening medium of our drum screens is attached to a rotating cylinder, allowing for efficient flow regime. The construction of the drum screen depends on the direction of flow through the screen media. The flow can enter through one end of the drum, capturing debris on the interior surface, or enter the top of the unit with solids captured on the exterior.
Internally fed rotary drum screens have flow capacities ranging from 0.03 to 0.8 m3/s or 0.7 to 19 mgd per screen. Externally fed drum screens have a capacity of less than 0.13 m3/s or 3 mgd. The drum screens are available in various sizes, ranging from 0.9 to 2m or 3 to 6.6 ft in diameter, and lengths from 1.2 to 4 m or 4 to 13.3 ft.
As the flow passes through the unit, the screened water continues to the next process, while the collected screenings are transported by the rotation of the drum screen towards the discharge chute for additional dewatering. After dewatering, the screenings are dumped into a container for future disposal. The rotating drum screen is kept clean by a water jet stream.
